ANTZOKIA

ANTZOKIA, a new 20-page comic available for purchase HERE. Giant ravenous babies, ham, and hundreds of tentacles move through empty European streets. This comic has two distinct sides: one color, one black and white. Each side has its own cover and the narratives collide in the center of the book. It uses an invented language of symbols drawn from my experiences studying in Bilbao, Spain, and from being an outsider within that nationalist culture.

ABOUT

My inspiration comes from the street graphics and posters I've encountered during my travels and from the works of underground comic artists Robert Williams, R. Crumb, S. Clay Wilson, Vaughn Bode, 60's collage artist Jess Collins, Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Margaret Kilgallen, and my favorite 1990s animated television shows: He-Man, Batman, and in particular John Kricfalusi's "Ren and Stimpy."

I make books, prints and wall paintings. The drawings incorporate, variously, ink, collage elements and gouache, acrylic and spray paint.

I'm currently moving to Providence, RI to begin my MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design.
